SMOKING BAN LAW

As of January 1st 2008, smoking was banned in all public establishments (cafés, bars, nightclubs, tabacs, public transport, schools (including open-air playgrounds), places of work and healthcare establishments). The ban also includes closed or covered outdoor terraces attached to cafés and bars. Smokers are only allowed smoke in designated smoking zones, which should be clearly indicated.  In Monaco it has come into effect in November 2008. Non-compliance of the law can result in a fine for the smoker and the owner of the establishment.
